感染拡大で苦しむ人や支援活動に携わる人たちをサポートしたい気持ちを表明。

ウィリアム王子は公務でアイルランドを訪問していた3月上旬、新型コロナウイルス（SARS-CoV-2）の大流行に関するメディアの反応について、「少し加熱しすぎではないか」との見方を示していた。
だが、イギリス国内でも新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の患者が急増するなか、今では事態を非常に深刻に受け止め、支援の拡充に力を注ぎ始めているよう。
王子は3月18日（現地時間）、住まいのケンジントン宮殿で撮影したビデオを公開。王室メンバーとして初めて、感染拡大が続く危機的な状況について語り、慈善団体「ナショナル・エマージェンシーズ・トラスト（National Emergencies Trust）」への支援のメッセージを送った。
「イギリス国民には、逆境に直面したときにはいつでも、どこにいても、団結することができるという優れた能力があります。影響を受けた人々に対して各地のコミュニティーが行っている支援は、最も優れた価値観と人間性を表わしています」
「悲劇的な事態が発生したとき、誰かを支援したいという国民の願いは、可能な限り最善の方法で取りまとめられ、伝えられなくてはなりません。だからこそ、ナショナル・エマージェンシーズ・トラストを設立することは、非常に重要なことだったのです」
ナショナル・エマージェンシーズ・トラストは現在、COVID-19の感染拡大で苦境に陥っている人たちを支援する国内の慈善団体をサポートするため、資金集めを行っているそう。
また、同日には弟のヘンリー王子もインスタグラムに、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大に関するコメントを投稿した。
「先行きが不透明なときです。そして今、私たちはこれまで以上にお互いを必要としています。本当に大きな恐怖を感じる今、私たちは真実と支援のために、そして孤独感を和らげるために、お互いを必要としているのです」
「世界中には今、支援を必要としている人たちが大勢います。舞台裏で、あるいは最前線で、またはそれぞれの自宅で、この危機に対応するために休むことなく努力している人たちが大勢います」
「COVID-19によって経験していることを前に、私たちが人として、もっと力を尽くしたいと願っていることに、畏敬の念を抱かされます」

These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary.
