コロナウイルスの影響がここにも。エリザベス女王、叙勲式で手袋を着用

世界中で猛威を振るっているコロナウイルス。エリザベス女王の装いにも変化があった。

今週、バッキンガム宮殿で行われた叙勲式に出席したエリザベス女王。第2次世界大戦でノルマンディー上陸作戦を経験し、その後この作戦で亡くなった兵士を追悼するために寄付を集めた退役軍人のハリー・ビリンジらに大英帝国勲章を授与した。

注目が集まっているのはエリザベス女王の手元。王室がSNSに投稿した動画を見ると女王が白い手袋をはめていることがわかる。

女王は1952年から叙勲式を行なっているが、手袋を着用して行うのはこれが初。外出するときには黒もしくは白のグローブをつけているが、叙勲式では必ず外して受章者たちに勲章を授与、握手をしていた。昨年秋の叙勲式の様子を見ると着用していないことがわかる。

Today The Queen held an Investiture at Windsor Castle. Her Majesty presented awards to 60 people for their achievements and service. Jennifer Gow was presented with an MBE for Services to Charity in the North East of Scotland. Jennifer is the Founder of ‘A Bear Named Buttony’, a charity making personalised bears for children having surgery to create a stoma. ?⬆️ She explains her work above. Also today, @therealmargaretatwood ? was made a Companion of Honour by Her Majesty for Services to Literature. Staff Sergeant Stuart Griffiths and Corporal Saimone Qasenivalu of The Royal Tank Regiment, @britisharmy, received The Queen’s Gallantry Medal ? The men were recognised for their bravery after a tank exploded at a training area in Wales – their actions saved the lives of three soldiers. ? @theroyalfamily, ?PA

??Today The Queen held an investiture, welcoming 62 deserving and high-achieving recipients, from all walks of life, to Buckingham Palace to receive their honours. Judith Harper was among the recipients. Judith was honoured with an MBE for her work with foster children. She has fostered nearly 100 children since becoming a carer in 1994 and adopted two. Her Majesty also awarded Mr Edward Grylls, otherwise known as @beargrylls with an OBE for his services to young people in his position as Chief Scout and for his charity and media work. Today's investiture coincided with World Mental Health Day. Swipe ⬅️⬅️to hear Bear, a former SAS servicemen and now keen adventurer, speak about the positive impact that group activities and adventure can have on every person’s mental health. Bear also speaks about receiving his honour from The Queen, who has a long standing relationship with The Scouts; holding the title of Patron since her accession in 1952. Swipe ⬅️⬅️⬅️Her Majesty awarded The Queen’s Gallantry Medal to Mr Christopher Jewell. Chris was part of a British diving crew involved with the rescue mission of 12 boys and their football coach, trapped inside the Tham Luang cave complex in Thailand. 王室関係者によるとこれはコロナウイルス対策。新聞「デイリーメール」に「高齢者の感染リスクが高いことから、手袋を着用した」と語っている。イギリスのボリス・ジョンソン首相は「握手では感染しない」と発表しているけれど、王室関係者曰く「政府からの助言に基づいた」。王室関係者がコメントしているように高齢のエリザベス女王だけが手袋を着用。チャールズ皇太子やウィリアム王子、キャサリン妃は通常通りの装いで公務を続けている。

世界中の人々の生活に大きな影響を与えているコロナウイルス。英国王室といえどもそれを逃れることはできないみたい。
